The York House London was established in 1950 and named after Edmund of Langley, the fifth son of Edward III and the Duke of York in 1385. The rivalry between the Duke of York and Henry IV, the Duke of Lancaster ignited a number of wars commonly refered to as the Wars of the Roses.
